Top 3 Tips for Looking Good, Fast

Hey there gorgeous!
It's time for another dose of Time Management Thursday!
Today I'm going to give you my Top 3 Tips on how to make it look like you put in a lot of effort without actually doing so. Basically they are time saving tips for hectic mornings if you like to hit the snooze button a million times and then end up rushing around. Don't worry, we've all been there.

3. Cute Clothes- How to look cute when you just rolled out of bed? Pick out your clothes before you go to bed! It makes life so much easier. Yes, that takes a little more time at night but it saves time in the morning! This is usually what I spend most of my time on in the morning! If you wanted to get really fancy you could pick out your clothes for the week but I don't like to do that because in Missouri weather you never know what you're going to get!
2. Cute Hair- Sometimes we can get away with bedhead, but on the days we can't my go to look is a high ponytail and a ribbon. Adding the ribbon makes it look like you actually spend longer on your look than you really did. It takes maybe two minutes to put this look together and there is no need to spend lots of time brushing or waiting for your straightener to heat up, etc.
1. Cute Makeup- Having makeup on can make you look instantly put together. Have a go to look that you can create in seconds. You can recreate my 5 minute makeup challenge look (which I did in 3) or, figure out your own! I suggest dual use products and brushes! Like mark's touch and glow, mini mark it sticks, or just pinched blush tints. Need to look really fancy in no time? Simple! Red lipstick and black eyeliner! I (I like mark's Lipclick in ChaCha and No Place to Run in Jet Set Most of us have gotten pretty quick and swiping on eye liner to our bottom lashes and using a red lipstick negates the need for anything dramatic on the eyes or face.

This was my Halloween costume but, you get the idea ;)

Hope you enjoyed this tips!

How to Style a Little Black Dress for Winter/Spring

Hello Beauties! Welcome to Wear It Wednesday. Today I will be featuring one of my favorite dresses!
I got this Little Black Dress at Express a year or so ago. Its the perfect dress because its comfortable, yet classy. It can be dressed up or down and be worn during all seasons!
Since I'm dying for warmer weather, I decided to spring it up with an aqua bandeau under a hot pink tank top, high heel skin tight boots, hit the deco necklace and the good hair day clip.
I feel like this look is good for the transitioning into spring! Its springy with the bright colors, but the boots keep my legs warm!

Come back tomorrow for Time Management Thursday

The Carrie Diaries: Identity Crisis Reaction

If you haven't started watching yet, The Carrie Diaries is a t.v. show prequel to The Sex and the City. It follows Carrie Bradshaw in high school. Carrie is played by the beautiful AnnaSophia Robb. It comes on Mondays at 8/7c on the CW

Warning: Contains Spoilers!
- Aww, Sebastian and Carrie are so cute
- I want to be that in love with my job!
- Really Sebastian's mom? I don't even know her name and shes cucko for cocoa puffs. Showing up at school then talking to him about her and her ex husband getting back together (dirty details and all)... sheesh..
- haha Bennet "Are you drunk?" just because Carrie shows up to work on a Monday happy!
-Ah typical 80s stuff... fun. Gotta love the casual drug references!
- I don't really see why Larissa is in charge. She's so flighty!
-hahaha Carrie trying to be Larissa is HILARIOUS!
-Sigh, I want to like Mouse but... she just annoys me. CHILL OUT girl!
- When is her dad actually going to date? Not just freak out around women?
- I have a bad feeling that there is no package.... hmm....
- Way to go Mouse, ruining the team! lol. I do like the tension between her and the jock though.
- To take the clothes or not take the clothes, that is the question
- So, there IS a package... but it came with a death threat. Yikes!
-Of course the woman he freaked out on would walk into the diner.
-From annoying to making out in the back of a car? Seems legit. Her dad needs to sort out his dating issues.
- I LOVE Maggies clothes!
-HAHAHA Maggie and Sebastian catching her dad making out in the car!
-Carrie freaks out in like every episode but for some reason I don't mind
-"We want them to be parents, not people" LOL
-Way to be sketchy Mouse
-Uhoh, Mouse's plan backfired
-So, I'm all for Sebastian finally telling his mom off, but I find her reaction hard to belief. Oh well! Tv shows are allowed to speed things up a bit.
- And now Carrie's plan backfired!
-Flawless logic there Carrie.
- I guess Mouse's plan didn't backfire AND she may get a hot boy out of it. Ow, ow!
- Love her outfit at the end!

That's all folk! See you tomorrow!

The Vampire Diaries Workout

Hello beauties!
Welcome back to Fit Friday! I just got done watching The Vampire Diaries (a day late, I know! But I had a mark. national webcast I didn't want to miss! Check me out on facebook for the mag kickoff offer)
Anyways, it got me to thinking, there are certain things that happen a lot in the episodes, for instance, people talking about "the cure" so, I decided it would be fun to make a Vampire Diaries Workout Game.
Here's what I came up with:

This obviously works better for the current season, Season 4. If this works out really well maybe I'll make one for next season as well!

I'm going to do this for next weeks episode, will you join me?
It's like a guilt free way to watch tv!

Time Management Thursday: Stick to Your List!

Welcome to Time Management Thursday!
So, confession... I had  have some of the worst time management skills. Take today for instance, even though somewhere in the back of my mind I knew I was writing this post on time management, I slacked off on the things on my to do list and watched Smash instead... Oh, and talked to my mom, and looked at jobs but only applied for two babysitting jobs at care.com .
Despite this sad example of how I spent my day I am slowly getting better at managing my time. So, I guess thats my first tip to you. Don't expect it to just happen. Like with any new habit (yes, its a habit) it takes time to take hold. You have to work at it, otherwise its never going to happen. (Kind of like those killer abs I want but don't want to sweat for).

So, one of my favorite things to do for time management is to make a to do list. Pretty simple, right?
The problem with me making a list is that I make it, don't look at it again until the next day or just forget about it all together. It still makes me aware of what I need to do that day but, I find if I don't look at it its a lot easier to get distracted with other things or put it off.I don't know about you guys, but that doesn't seem like the list thing is working out. At least, not the way I'm doing it.
So, what to do?
I love lists and I don't want to just do away with my to do list all together so, I came up with a solutions I want to try out. You can try them with me and let me know how they work for you.
1. Make to Do list on phone and set a "due date" and priority high- I'm not sure how well this works on other phones, but this is how I would do it on my Android htc phone. But basically, just make the to do list on your phone and have it remind you.
2. Set alarms for certain times of the day to check your to do list- mid-afternoon, evening, and night. This will be helpful just because I keep forgetting to actually look at my to do list and check things off.
3. Schedule Your To Do List- what I mean by this is basically laying out approximately when you are going to do each item on your to do list. That way you have to look at it to know whats next.

Kailey

Blog Under Construction

Hey Beauties,
A few of you may have already noticed but I wanted to address some of the changes that are happening around here. After all, a blog is just a diary without any readers so, I need to keep ya'll informed!

I was thinking about giving up on blogging all together because of my spottiness with this blog but then I had a better idea. First, I decided to start blogging more regularly... everyday in fact, except for Sunday. Well, how was I supposed to do that? I've said it before and 30 Day Blog Challenges certainly don't get me into the habit (and honestly, don't make for very good blogging for me... some people do them well but I am not one of them!). So, I decided to come up with a certain topic to post about each day of the week. I am keeping them vauge enough so that I can do multiple types of posts. These are subject to change, but here's where I am at right now. (most of which you've already seen)
Makeup Monday- Where I will post tutorials, inspiration, current favorites, foundation routine... stuff like that.
TV Tuesday- Where I review my favorite tv shows (although I don't know what to do since the Pretty Little Liars finale!) or do a fashion or make up post inspired by one of my favorite tv shows... you get the gist.
Wear It Wednesday- Fashion! Will mostly be outfit's of the day but may also be me dreaming with polyvore.
Time Management/Tried It Thursday- So, Thursday's were going to be Tried It Thursday where I tried out things on pinterest or DIY's I came up with myself or something but then I realized I am a poor college student. I don't have the funds or means to do stuff like that once a week so, I may do Tried It Thursday posts sparingly until I am married and am living in my condo. In the meantime, they will be mostly Time Management tips because that's something I really need to work on and I figured I can share what I've found and what works for me!
Fit Friday- I need to look fabulous within 72 days... Join me on that journey. Food and excersice tips!
Scene It Saturday- This one will be fun with its ambiguity! Scene It Saturday mostly means movies I've seen but it can also apply to tv shows and celebrity fashion/beauty.

So, now that you know what to expect from the week... I want to let you in on what the heck happened to 100+ posts on here. Well, I want this blog to be something that I'm proud of... something I can put on a resume or show off to people and be proud of my work. My three halfhearted attempts at 30 Day Blog Challenge's, tags, and short rambles of nothingness just weren't cutting it. The posts I have kept I will either leave them as they are or edit them to give them a little bit more spice.

If you'd like to see what I was up to on my brief hiatus, check out campuschatter.hubpages.com . I'm not sure if I'll continue posting there but, I have some good articles and I learned a lot about what to do and not to do in blogging.

I hope to see you around more often

Wear It Wednesday! How to Wear a Swirl Scarf

Hello Beauties!
Welcome to Wear It Wednesday! Despite it being the first day of spring, it is still very cold outside! 24 degrees! Maybe I'm a sissy for think that is FREEZING but, I like my weather to be in the 80s! This whole groundhog was lying when he said spring would come early business is just not for me!
That being said, since it was so cold outside, I decided a scarf would be a nice touch. It's a swirl (or swirl and ruffle, whichever you prefer) scarf that was given to me by my loving mother. Someone else made it so, I didn't pay for it. Major stores don't really have these (yet) so, I would suggest to make your own or buy one on etsy.  I know that my mom was a little unsure of how to wear them because these aren't your average scarves. However, I found a way that works well for me thats simple, easy and doesn't make me look like I have 18th century type frills around my neck!
First of all, I suggest pairing the scarf with a solid or mostly solid shirt in a complimenting color. Here, I chose a grey thermal with a pink undershirt to bring out the pink in the sweater. I suppose you could wear the same color as your scarf but, you want the scarf to stand out. And I just really hate that, personally.

Alright, now to HOW to wear the scarf? I chose to wear mine like this.. How did I do this exactly? Easy, peasy. I just folded the scarf in half, wraped around my neck and put the "loose" ends through the hole. Make sense? Here's a picture in case if it doesn't! (and its pin-able, so you wont forget!)

Lastly, I paired it with boot cut blue jeans. Personally, I don't think the pants matter that much in this case. I can't wait until the warm weather hits so I can start really playing with my skirts and dresses again! (Having to wear tights all the time is so limiting. Unless you have an outrageous collection, that is)

Some other ways you can wear this scarf:
More detailed description below

Simply wrap around neck, tie then add a brooch or hair piece. I'm using mark's Good Hair Day Clip

Same as above, but no clip. Doesn't it look lonely?

For this one, make one side longer than the other when you place on your neck, then wrap the longer side around.

Unleash your inner drama queen and tie to the side, flipping one side of the scarf over your shoulder. I'll admit this is cute, but it's hard to get to stay like that! Anybody have tips on that?

And last... just simply let it hang on your neck. I'd only use this one if you really need to make yourself look super skinny or want to frame something on your shirt.

Alright beauties! I hope you enjoyed and are inspired to wear, buy or make a swirl scarf yourself!
Stay Beautiful,
Kailey
P.S. Come back tomorrow for Time Management Thursday! Join me on my journey to balance out college, wedding planning, blogging, and more!

TV Tuesday:Pretty Little Liars Finale

I do not own the rights to this photo!

Today marks the end of Pretty Little Liars... until the premiere of season for June 11th that is.

The following is my reactions to the episode, be warned, it contains spoilers!!!

  • Spencer's out of Radley! Yay!
  • But she's acting a little more meh than usual, boo!
  • I love Hannah, she's hilarious! "Whats the difference between a crumpet and an English muffin?" lol
  • Well, Spencer's acting creepy... Oh yeah! She's a part of the A team, yikes!
  • Aww, poor Ezra! Aria is totally icing him out!
  • JENNA IS BACK! OMG, what?!?! "The police have evidence?" What is that about? And what is that text about?! Who sent it?
  • Hannah + Ezra scene is priceless! (No shennanigans, other than her lying about babysitting Malcom)
  • Jenna and Shana? What? Are they together or just friends? And whats going on Friday? Are they a part of the A team too?
  • Ezria  is breaking my heart! I totally get Aria's reasoning but, BOO
  • TOBY'S ALIVE!!! I knew it, I knew it I knew it! *fist pump*
  • Hmm.. is he just telling Spencer what she wants to hear?/ The writers telling the VIEWERS what they want to hear? I'm so conflicted!!
  • Welp, Mona didn't kidnap the kid!
  • So, whats the deal with Jenna and Shana and Melissa?!?! Is the A team bigger than we thought or are they forming their own alliance?
  • I love the way the Liars figured out Spencer was a part of the A team and confronted her! "Spencer's on the A Team, game over."
  • It's so weird they take orders from someone they don't know who it is!
  • Mona gets trapped! hahahahahaha sucka!
  • Uhoh... fire! I don't get why she set the fire just to drag them all out?
  • She framed Toby! Ugh...
  • Who is Red Coat? The Liars think Ali... and I do too!
  • Mona a victim? This will be fun..
  • WHAT the heck is in that trunk?! I hate we have to wait until June to find out!
What did you guys think of the finale? Did  you have the same reactions I did?

Come back tomorrow for Wear it Wednesday!

Make Up Monday: Luck of the Irish

Hello Beauties,

As you know, this weekend was St. Patrick's Day. In honor of that, I did a Luck of the Irish St. Patty's day look. Now, I know St. Patrick's Day is over, but I think this look is really wearable. I noticed it really opened up my eyes so I would suggest this for people with hazel, brown and green eyes. But, of course, any eye color will do! :)

I know the screenshot doesn't look appealing but, I promise the rest of the video is fine! Follow me on YouTube! I'm continuing to get better! Practice makes perfect, right? I would love it if you would share with me what you wore for your St. Patty's day celebrations!

Stay Beautiful,
Kailey

P.s. Comeback tomorrow for TV Tuesday!

Scene It Saturday: Oz the Great and Powerful

Last night my hot date took me to go see Oz The Great and Powerful and, since this is Scene It Saturday  I thought I would do a little mini review on it.

First of, I'd like to point out that this is the story of Oz and it has nothing to do with Dorthy. It's basically a prequel to the Wizard of Oz that we know and love. I was hoping for a little bit more deviation in terms of characterization but their wasn't much. The beginning of the movie and trip in to Oz is very reminiscent of the classic film, and it does give it a nice nostalgic touch. Once we get to Oz the visuals are stunning. You can even tell from the poster that the graphics are over the top and larger than life. Very aesthetically pleasing, both with the visuals and the music which was done by Danny Elfman. Elfman did a great job at highlighting the story but not overpowering it. The costumes were magnificent as well.
The acting and characterization, however, left a lot to be desired. The acting was good, not great. I felt like I got better acting out of the digitally animated characters than the on screen actors. With the exception of Mila Kunis. Yes, there was a lot of characterization that I think was missed in the screenwriting but her acting was amazing *spoiler* if it truly is her after the "transformation". I think it is... I can't find another name on IMDB.
Overall, I think what the movie lacked in story line/story telling, characterization and acting it made up for in stunning visual effects, musical score and animated characters/voice actors. It's a great feel good family friendly movie. If you have kids and/or want a light comedy with some moral goodness attached to it, I'd say go for it.
Final Verdict: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Fit Friday: My Workout Plan

So, since I'm getting married in 2 months, 15 days, 15 hours and 15 minutes, I have precious little time to look good naked. I want to look HOT for my honeymoon, not just good, but drop dead, could be mistaken for a Victoria's Secret   swimsuit model. So, since I've been kind of eh about my diet and exercise these past couple of months, its time to get my booty in gear and get moving! I'm focusing mainly on my core. I want to get toned and improve flexibility.
Here's my current plan:
Monday: Zumba
Tuesday: Yoga
Wednesday: Swing Dancing or Pilates
Thursday: Pilates
Friday: Pilates or P90x with my fiance (Trying to get out of this, lol)
Saturday and Sunday: Rest
This is just what works with my schedule and I think its a pretty good regime. I know that all I did last semester was Swing dance for a couple hours twice a week and that helped my legs, butt and core stay tight so, I'm sure doing Zumba, Swing dancing plus yoga and Pilates will work well for what I need. I may also try to get a little more cardio in if I'm not seeing results. It doesn't seem like much but Yoga and Pilates get pretty intense. I'm doing intermediate level work outs to challenge myself. I'd like to let you guys know that for yoga I'm using this fabulous website called doyogawithme.com . There is a great selection of yoga videos in every time length, purpose and level of difficulty. I'm not getting paid to promote them, I just found them on pinterest and am wildly impressed.

Every Friday I will have a post about getting fit! Could be anything, like... an update, tips on what has helped me, healthy recipes, etc.

Come Back tomorrow for Scene It Saturday!

Stay Beautiful,
Kailey
